Sometimes…

You flash in front

Of my creative eyes

Forcing me to look at you

With surprised gazes

Sometimes….

I immerse in your

Beautiful thoughts

And miss to grab you

From my poetic glance

Sometimes….

I try to pluck

To knit a beautiful poem,

But often fails to bring

Your authentic beauty in it

Oh my words…

You stand in distant

Wobbling and trembling

In a state of stable muteness

The versatile alphabets torn asunder

A heart beat skipped in volatile shadow

Poetry is an art of scribbling, reading and also reciting, overall entertaining like any other form of literary art of the human language which are being used for its aesthetic qualities in addition to, or instead of its imaginary and semantic content.
Generally, it consists of verbal or literary oriented writing works in which language is commonly used in a manner that is felt by its own authors and to the audience or reader to differ from prose.
In poetry, more than in other forms of art of writing, there is an approach that you must wait for inspiration to hit. This seems to be true particularly among beginners, but I have seen this leaning in those who have been writing poetry for years as well. I believe that there are two problems with this attitude. The first is that you can wait a very long time for inspiration to strike. The second is that when it does strike, it is likely to come from your subconscious.
One of the ways to get around the dilemma of waiting is to put yourself in a poetry frame of mind, which can be as easy to do as reading poetry that you like, or sometimes poetry you don't like. Keeping a varied poetry library increases the chances that you will find something to motivate, sometimes inspiration comes from just one phrase and sometimes it is the whole idea. Occasionally I am inspired by the rhythm of the language.
Reading poetry expands poetry horizons. You see many things that poetry can be written about and it breaks you out of your shell of thought. It also increases the myriad of images and ideas in your subconscious. The number of people who write poetry but don't read it is astounding, and you can usually tell who they are when you read their work.
Poetess Maaya Dev’s poems are marvelous, hence invites applause from her most valuable readers. Perhaps the most significant element of her verses can be summarized as implied meaning and internal flow of rhythm. Please accept my congratulations for releasing such a beautiful anthology of your recent verses.

Soldiers

POETESS JASMYN DAY

_____________________________________________

iron fists
with golden hearts
hands that trigger
the gun
legs that run
hold steadfast
and strong
Soldiers-
brothers in arms
afraid and brave
in one
their lives not theirs
but another's to sacrifice
Soldiers-
iron fists
with golden hearts
a gun does not make
my soldier

 POETESS JASMYN DAY

There was a time,
when my people covered this land
the mountains, hills and rivers;
free as the sea
now, these places are only a memory
now, we have nothing to lose,
and nothing to gain
Your skin is not my skin,
your God not my God;
how then can we be brothers?
sacred be their resting place,
and hallowed be their grave;
the pale faces on a stone
mine dwelling, unforgotten,
white man will never be alone
for the dead are not powerless
Day and Night cannot dwell together,
how then can we be brothers?
our destiny reigns with the Great spirit,
your destiny reigns with your God;
Tribe follows Tribe,
Nation follows Nation

Silent Music

Pink lotus dances around
on misty tides
Lazy fireflies
shine their light on the stage,
music only the night
can hear
Vines of musky jasmine
ripple waters
of time
The widowed spider
spins her silky web
music only the night
can hear

About Poetess Jasmyn Day

I'm 20 years old and have lived on the central coast my whole life. I fell in love with poetry when I was in middle school, and we were studying poetry. My first ever poem was titled Lucy and is still my favorite to date. I hope to one day have my poetry published into a book of my own. My favorite poet is Edgar Allen Poe, and my favorite author is Stephen King; both of which produce beautiful works of literature with an intriguing dark side to them.

Make your memories

and hold them tight,

for when you die

they will all take flight

no one knows for sure

where your spirit will go,

truth be told

you might never know

for there are many stories,

both old and new

that tell of a demise

so true and so new;

so say your prayers

and be thankful each day

for when it comes,

it will be Judgement day

POETRY ICONS: POETESS LAGNA PANY'S PAGE: 4

I am formless

Let me see the sunshine
Reflect the smile
Of iridescent iris,
In the colors of earth;
then I can rest in peace
Let me see the world
and its various elements
in crevices of your tonsils, and
the sounds of motion;
I can then, rest in peace
Till then-
I am an Ashariri (formless)
I cannot rest
I cannot be at peace
