POETRY ICONS: POETESS LAGNA PANY'S PAGE: 4

I am formless

Let me see the sunshine
Reflect the smile
Of iridescent iris,
In the colors of earth;
then I can rest in peace
Let me see the world
and its various elements
in crevices of your tonsils, and
the sounds of motion;
I can then, rest in peace
Till then-
I am an Ashariri (formless)
I cannot rest
I cannot be at peace

Hopes...

Your kiss as tender
as the wounds of fate
coiled around and under
and beyond the hopes-
they say do not exist,
neither do I;
You cuddle, and touch me;
my breasts tingle, painfully
the way it had,
years ago
when a guileless child
had lived his life.
I look into those eyes
Ah! Those narrations
and phrases,
written in cursive
on a grey, endless slate.
Can I touch those words!

Moved

Moved out of my family
No..no..kicked out is better said
His stinging words ~stinking in my head
Moved out…to the end of my life
To end my life
None at my door behind
Stopping me. No kids he gave
All two decades, I washed his linen
Stinking.. Yes!!
Scorching sun above
Sucked all water ~ rivers and canals dry
Where shall I throw myself
Moved on
Destination unknown
Scared of shadows and darkness
Misty eyed..I moved on

Pages of future
Wrapped in blankness
No images.. No mirages
Emptiness touching me
From all corners
Afraid.. I moved on

My paces quickened
Ran against the wind
Into nothingness
Years of restrictions
Now, my legs ran
Jumped…danced
Yes..the freedom
I sensed
Ecstasy ~ Euphoria

Tears summed up
Over years of solitude
Flowed
Cleansing my inner being..

I moved on

LITTLE GESTURE

Little gestures when one makes
Brings many hues of joy
Especially when you least expect it
Makes your heart bounce like a toy.

They are little but makes an impact
More sweeter than sweet
Gives a pleasure so special and unique
Many big acts cannot meet.
For it is done only when one cares
And not as a duty or routine
It is both giver and the receiver
Who knows the value of it and
the delight it can bring.
It might be an unexpected call
Or an early morning greeting
What is life, if not for some fun?
Routine can make life boring.

A spark of misunderstanding
Fuelled by circumstances
Integrity of character shorn of semblance
Hate hoists its flag of conclusions.
The conscience -
Murmured in soft tendrils of affection
Listen, heed the whisperings of your heart
Your heart alone knows
Your heart alone guides
Your heart alone loves
Love alone soothes, heals and unites.

Oak tree
They call me
I lead an
Ascetic life
You can see me
Meditating
In the shadows
Of the lake beside

Stretching my limbs
Reaching
The canopy of clouds

Unshaken by mighty winds
Stand mightier
I

The chirping birds
The dancing rivulet
The fluttering butterflies
Pass by me

The blushing flowers
The morning sunshine
The deadening darkness

Nothing...
Changes my mind

Unmoved..
Silent
For eons and eons
An Onlooker
Stand I....

A long forgotten memory
returned within a dream
held the sleeping hands of your enemy
when the moon began to scream
you wrote my name in a puddle
watched as the ripples washed it away
Was it the beginning of your struggle?
to your ignorance you prayed
You stood fierce upon the altar
the fire made you feel alone
only shadows you have brought to the slaughter
As you wept upon the stone
Ugliness raised her head
when you stare into the mirror
with the waking light returns the sleepless dread
Your truth you slowly drew nearer

ARE MARRIAGES MADE IN HEAVEN?

Have you ever thought
Love marriages alone can thrive?
Have you ever thought
Arranged marriages are all failures?
Marriage
Be it love or otherwise
Can only bloom and blossom
If it is also a marriage of two minds
A union of two hearts
Respecting, sharing, adapting
Thus creating space for love to grow.
Marriages may be made in Heaven
If in destiny you believe
Yet, the partners in marriage
Who make it heavenly or beastly .
Everything lies within the minds
Their attitudes, their perceptions
All to be taken in its stride
Expectations sure, there will be
Disappointments close on its heels
Making an amalgam
Of your appointments
Of your disappointments
Learn to create a life
Firm on the founadation of love,
Of sharing and understanding.

SLUMBER

BY
POETESS MOU SIRCAR

I woke up from my slumber,
With a smiling heart and face,
My mind is still brimming fresh,
With previous night's frivolous foolishness!
Arms across each other,
And Loosely latched up legs,
We slept together threesome,
Like a sea shell with a precious lil' pearl within!
The small limbs sometimes,
Falling on Your face like a tight slap...
Sometimes they hug Me so tight,
That I feel like a Beetelnut in a nutcracker to be cracked !
Little legs go on playing left and right... Till they find a proper crevice,
Landing on chest or tummy with a thump or thud,
It brings us back from our sleep with a uhh-ahh and ouch!
The small head at last... when is finally asleep,
The body slumps slowly like an empty rucksack and breaths a heavy sigh!
The baby smell still lingers in her tiny frame,
The silken hair feels feathery as it nudges to find right space,
Contently I let her sleep so that I can be near,
That time I feel so lucky and loved knowing... she's still all mine!

LIFE......OUR LIVES.
Life becomes meaningful
When the world attains a countenance
Peaceful and harmonious.
When in our lives, love pervades
And hatred recedes.
When compassion abounds
And violence shatters.
When contentment flows
And greed crumbles .
When law and order reigns
And poverty wanes.
When justice triumphs
And honesty and integrity win.
When women and children
Are protected and cherished .
When humaneness
Becomes the crowning glory
That sustains us , our lives.
True… then we find God
Within ourselves
And all is well in our lives.

I often wish I had a tail
I'd wag it when I'm glad
I'd fan you when it's really hot
and ensure you're never sad
I'd wave it back
I'd wave it forth
To swat away the flies
I'd wave it under cupboards too
To bring out hidden mice
And if it ever starts to ache
I'd rest it 'tween my legs
Lie down for a very short break
And dream of scrambled eggs
But no - I think I need no tail
A tail would reveal too
'twould wag so hard when you come near
you'd know I so love you

There’s an ice-cold chill
at the bottom of
the pit
threatening
to scale up
and spread out
engulfing
swallowing
warmth
light
threatening
to spread
darkness
(comfort)?
To drown
to let
the claws
takeover
to be torn
apart
to be
nothing

Heroin

Spiders crawl from empty eyelids
The venom in your veins,
releases the pain
The hero you turn to
dead, a lifeless soul
Bury your burdens
Behind brick walls
The flame of the candle only burns for so long

ON A GALLANT RIDE
On a chivalrous journey he took her
For a ride over the mountains and river valleys
To show a world of Love she never knew
To show her the glamour and glories.

In an awkward spill of mental display
They both held their grounds
She with her fragile and cheerful innocence
He with his knightly gallant self perched.
Rosy red were her blushes
As he swept her off her feet
And placed her on the horse of dreams
As they both rode ascending doubtless breams.
Like a gypsy without a moment to lose
Taking the world for a magic carpet
Imparting a polished glaze of thriving joy
Leaving behind the glooms and marching ahead.

ESSENCE

I shall perish, I shall fade
But not before I bring that sparkling glow
Not before your smiles I see flow
Not before I place in your eyes my love’s essence
Not before I .........

You can go as far as you wish
You can ignore every foot prints, if you please
And run perhaps will you from
Every mirror that shows my glimpse.
But can you??
Not before I place in your eyes my love’s essence
Not before I .........
There’s a river down the freeway
You can take a dip anyway
But can your soul quench its thirst
Can it feel the jest and make merry like a lark?
You ask, “Who are you? Forget I shall soon”
But can you?
Not before I place in your eyes my love’s essence
Not before I .........
You have seen perhaps every glory, every dream
Every step you took to succeed
Yet, you know there’s a void which remains to be filled.
You know there’s darkness, you fight everyday to live
But can you?
Not before I place in your eyes my loves essence
Not before I .........

Sprinkles .....

Early morning sprinkles the dear droplets,

At time slow and other moment raises,

Forbidding me for the morning stroll and indicating to lie in bedroll,

The naughty drops arouses my spirit,

And the strong desire to refresh by the shower's credit,

With a thumping heart I walked out,

Along with a umbrella to protect from rain bout,

Sprinkles wet my plait, and then its slippery linen touch my gentle face'

Exhilarating current run down through my spine in a sudden pace,

The drenched ,deserted road glows with a rejuvenate and fresh look,

The morning rain re-energises me with its chill wind ,

Captivate and refreshes me with sprinkler's sting....

Turning the dogeared pages
Of my life, I see
Many colourful pictures
Balloons and crackers
Cake smeared faces
Laughters and pout selfie s
Winking eyes...clasping hands
A ku-na-matata s
Ooh-la-la-laa s
Screams and giggles
Aah!!! Life at the fullest
A wave of wisdom
Envelopes me
"if I don't enjoy life to the brim
Next month,next year...or next moment
Who knows
Where I will be".........

STANDING ON THE GROUND
POETESS JOLLY BHATTACHARJEE

Standing on the ground,
I see the tallest building,... gazing far
I wonder how it must be looking from the top floor.
Or how far can one dare to see or awe.

No I know it is not for me
Nor do I wish to be a part
I am satisfied with my humble being
And Am proud for living a life of a commoner.
For I know I haven’t destroyed the Nature or Living
In my Quest to get more
I know I haven't made others look small
In my pride to rise high and endure.

THE SANDS ON THE SEA SHORE.

 BY POETESS MRIDULA MENON

The sea enraptured me,
The waves caressed my feet
My feet i soaked
In the coolness of the gentle waves.

When the waves
Attained a fierceness
That frightened me
I ran ashore.
The sands on the sea shore
Told me a story
Most pathetic
Of their lives.
You, ever so soft with the waves
Run to me, the sand,
When the waves turn strong and unbearable
Trample me with your feet
Your sandals hitting me hard
I writhe in pain and disgust
Still i never protest.
And accept with a nonchalance
My fate, ever so obnoxious
For ever to be despised and stamped
Never a kind word nor gesture
Never a touch neither soft nor mellow
Always harsh , strong , rigid and stiff..
No wonder ...i came from the rock
That remains powerful and mighty
Against all odds in life.
